Toronto, ON [May 8, 2013] — Grand Benders returns May 15th for a second season of fun in the Canadian sun, just in time for the May 2-4 long weekend. The eight-part docu-soap series about life at ‘The Bend’ premieres online at and

Season 2 reunites the Rapaport family — Mickey, Nancy and Justin — owners of Coco’s, a one-of-a-kind hotel, nightclub, restaurant and bar located on the strip in Grand Bend, Ontario. The series premiere kicks off May 11th on bpm:tv, starting at 1 PM (ET) with a Grand Benders Marathon and ending with a sneak peek of Season 2, Episode 1 at 7 PM (ET).

“Grand Benders was developed for a Gen Y audience, offering relevant, entertaining content that can be consumed anywhere and anytime,” says Peter Gentile, Executive Producer, MDF Productions. “It’s good summer-time fun that can be watched on a tablet or smartphone, or after a night out at the club.”

Full Season 2 episodes will be delivered via a responsive website at and at Episodes roll out online every Wednesday. Grand Benders moves on-air beginning September 7, 2013 on bpm:tv, Canada’s first and only dance channel. Season 2 is being supported by a mobile ad campaign on The Weather Network.

“Grand Benders speaks directly to bpm:tv’s youthful demographic,” says Don Gaudet, Vice President, Programming & Production, for the station’s parent company, Stornoway Communications. “It captures all the fun and excitement of the great Canadian summer, packs in lots of terrific dance music — and tells the story of close-knit family who stick together through good times and bad. We’re thrilled to be going back to ‘The Bend’ for a second season.”

Grand Benders follows the exploits of the Rapaport family, their friends, staff, club kids, beach goers and frenemies.

It’s the 25th anniversary for Coco’s and tempers are flying as long hours and too much partying take their toll. Mickey puts additional demands on Justin to step-up and lead the family business while at the same time displaying his “supreme overlord” style of management. The family deals with the typical problems of running a small, seasonal business, from keeping the ice machine running on a busy Canada Day weekend to managing slacker staff and bringing in customers — no matter what the weather.

New Grand Benders Season 2 characters include High Kick, an out-of-control party animal and would-be Coco’s bartender; Laura, the sexy new front-of-house “shark”; and Chad, a monosyllabic bus boy and body builder.

The series also chronicles a town in transition — from legendary party hot spot to something more like a retirement community. Through it all Mick and his family and staff work hard, and play harder, getting it done the Coco’s way.

Grand Benders is produced by MDF Productions for bpm:tv with the support of the Canadian Media Fund.

The Characters:
Mick, The Dad — Mick (62) is Coco’s owner. He is a wily Polish-Jewish mastermind/trickster who oversees every decision at Coco’s and even works the DJ turntables on hot summer days. In the last decade, he discovered house music, and it changed his life. Mick, in his own eccentric ways, oversee the business — and the kids who work at his “nightclub summer camp school”.

Nancy, The Boss — Wife Nancy holds her family together while managing Coco’s financial side. Protective mother hen to Coco’s female staff, she runs a tight business — with zero tolerance for misbehaving customers and staff ineptitude, and sometimes little patience for Mick’s practical jokes.

Justin, The Son — Justin (26), apprentice to his father in all things management, runs the kitchen and bar orders. Funny, sarcastic, running on adrenaline and energy drinks, he does his best to weather the ups and down of business and his parents’ demands. But when Mick gets under his skin, situations have a way of becoming explosive.
