Shooter Recipes: Saints Balls


This week’s shooter recipe should have been our feature last week but we were so caught up with the US Presidential Election and the Mitt 4 Mick campaign that we almost forgot to post this saintly yet sinful shooter.

The Saints Balls shooter is perfect for celebrating All Saint’s Day (also know as All Hallows Tide, All-Hallomas, or All Hallows’ Day) which falls on the day after Halloween.

According to some sources, the idea for All Saints’ Day goes back to the fourth century when the Greek Christians kept a festival on the first Sunday after Pentecost (in late May or early June) in honor of all martyrs and saints.

Pope Gregory IV made All Saints’ Day an authorized holiday in 837 CE. It is speculated that the chosen date for the event, November 1, may have been an attempt to supplant the pagan Festival of the Dead (also known as Samhain or the feast of Saman, lord of death).

To make the Saints Balls shooter, you’ll need:

  • 15 mL Chocolate Liqueur
  • 10 mL Cream Liqueur
  • 10 mL Butterscotch Schnapps
  • A couple of Maltesers

Crush up two Maltesers and put them into the bottom of a shot glass. Pour the Chocolate and Cream Liqueur and the Butterscotch Schnapps on top.

Shoot. Enjoy!
